While an undergraduate student at the design school of Beijing’s Central Arts Academy in 2007, Bowen was “accidentally” exposed to 3D Printing; she was immediately attracted to its potential of applying the “new” technology to artistic creations. Her works that “transcend mechanics” attracted much controversy among the faculty and fellow students as being “anti-art”. In 2012, her works “12 Water Lanterns” was awarded the highest honor of her graduating class, and later was awarded runner-up of “Hats of 3D Printing” competition of i.Materialise at Printshow London 2012.
Bowen went on to found Bowen Studio, moving to Shanghai in 2013. Among her many creations are "TANTAN", a series of colorful flower-like ear-rings which may be shaped by its owner. Her latest artistic creation, "SWIRL resembles waves spreading across the space from a single point of origin is stunningly awesome.
With Bowen, we can only expect much more of the unexpected – the true essence of an artist.
